Rules

Our clan, like many others, maintains a set of rules that all members are expected to follow. These rules are meant to ensure fairness and protect the rights of our members. In order to remain a member of this community, you must agree to abide by these rules.

We understand that all clan members are here on their own free will with the ultimate goal being to have fun, and we've tried to shape our rules accordingly. We don't ask for anything unreasonable, and our rules aren't pointless protocol. Each rule was added to ensure that decent manner is maintained both between clan members and foreigners and that the community itself remains a pleasant place in which to take part.

I've tried to keep the rules clear and concise. The general concept is listed first, followed by specific instances of each rule. Here are the rules.

1. No cheating of any kind. Members should be able to game without having to worry about hackers and cheaters. Also, your record should accurately reflect the games you've played while in MoH. Besides M[o]H-VietPho-, we're proud of the fact that our stats are legitimate. The following forms of cheating are forbidden:

  • Comp stomping, which is playing less computers than humans in a game.
  • BSing, which is attacking your ally.
  • Hacking, which is using a program to give yourself an unfair advantage in a multiplayer game.
  • Disconnecting from a game intentionally to avoid a loss.
  • Ladder stomping, which is getting free ladder wins(or losses) by playing somebody who is willing to lose.
  • Winbotting(or lossbotting), which is using a bot to mess with your stats.
  • Intentionally losing all of your games. Some people do this to make the point that stats mean nothing. Well, that's not the case in our clan. While stats themselves do not reflect the actual skill of a player, the fact that we do not corrupt ours is a symbol of our integrity and respect for the game.

2. Get involved in the community. Our clan has many wonderful things to offer besides gaming, and it is each member's responsibility to get involved and keep track of what is going on.

  • Register on the forum, and stop by there occasionally to browse or post.
  • Log into the console as often as possible, perferrably daily. Make sure to read the news, update your stats, and do anything else you need to do.
  • Make your best effort to attend our weekly clan meetings.

3. Treat all clan members and allies with respect. We're all in this together, and there's many opportunities to make friends and meet new people here. There's no excuse for putting a fellow clan member down.

  • There shall be no flaming of members on the forum. You're free to criticize other people's ideas, but do not directly attack them.
  • Harrassment of other members or allies is strictly prohibited. If you have a problem with somebody, either be a mature human being and work it out, or ask a General to arbitrate.

4. Respect authority in the clan. Higher ranking members have proven their loyalty and commitment to our clan through hard work and dedication, and their rank is to be respected. While this isn't the military where all orders must be obeyed without question, you are expected to cooperate with higher ranking members.

  • Officers have jurisdiction over the channel and moderators have jurisdiction over their respective boards on the forum. Come to them with problems, and respect their decisions on each matter.
  • Generals have jurisdiction over all clan members. Forum admins have jurisdiction over all boards on the forum. You can come to them with more serious problems, like accusations of corruption or a problem with a decision made by an Officer or moderator.
  • If you are asked for information by a General that directly relates to the clan, you are expected to give it. This includes anything at all having to do with Bnet. We expect your full cooperation when trying to solve disputes between clan members and ensure clan security.

5. Use good manners in the clan channel. With the popularity of bots and the immaturity of many Bnet users nowadays, it is especially important that our channel remain a haven from this chaos. Members should feel comfortable speaking in the channel and not have to worry about bad manner, spamming, or other annoyances.

  • Don't spam in the channel. It is very annoying and completely pointless. Spamming includes talking in chunks, saying nonsense words, quickly repeating something over and over, or using Bnet Tools.
  • Keep bots out of the channel. It is a place for chatting and talking about games, not showing off your load or spamming. Ops bots and bots specifically approved by the Generals are permitted, and for members who want to always stay apparent even when their game client is off-line can run their MoH name on a bot. Any other bots will be banned.
  • Members are encouraged to leave their MoH name on a bot in the channel, even when they're not there. This helps with recruitment on realms where we've only recently expanded, and gives foreigners an idea of the members we have.
  • Colors and StealthBot bold/italic text is not allowed in our channel. What you have to say is no more important than what anybody else has to say, and this kind of text can be very distracting.
  • Do not load or flood our channel. It's pathetic that I even have to list this as a rule, but some warrers have taken up the notion that it's okay to show off their loads and floods in the clan channel. Don't!

6. Treason is strictly forbidden. Being in our clan is a privilege and an honor, and you are expected to remain loyal to our community while serving in MoH and after you depart.

  • Your loyalty should be to MoH alone. While in MoH, you may not be a member of any other clan that plays a game we support. Doing so is called multi-clanning or double-clanning and will result in expulsion.
  • You are expected to keep sensitive information to yourself, even after you leave the clan. Leaking any kind of information to our enemies is prohibited.
  • You may not create your own clan while a member of MoH. Please resign first. In addition, you may not try to recruit our members into your new clan. This is considered an act of war and will not be tolerated.

7. Take pride in your clan! We're an elite community of diverse and mature people, and you should consider it an honor to be here.

  • Your MoH name should be your primary Bnet account. Some warrers have taken a fancy to loading a tagged name on a bot and using an original as their primary name. This is not acceptable in our clan.
  • Capitalize the tag as M[o]H-, not M[o]h- or anything else. I don't care if you think m[O]h- is sexier, M[o]H- is how we cap our tag. :P
  • You should also do most of your gaming on your MoH name. The exception is Diablo II accounts, which often have characters that a member has worked toward developing for years and does not want to give up.

8. All members have the right to express their opinions, both in the channel and on the forum. However, you must do so in a way that doesn't offend, target, or harass other people. We're a diverse bunch, and respect for one another's religions, cultures, races, nationalities, etc. is very important.

  • Racism of any kind will not be tolerated and is grounds for expulsion. If you're a warrer who's used to calling people "niggers" and "jewbs", break the habit NOW.
  • Non-constructive criticism of the clan is discouraged. If you don't like it here, then drop by the console and visit the resign page, and you'll never have to bother with us again.

9. Take the time to read the materials we have on the site. Somebody(me) took the time to write all this out for you, and if you'd take the time to read it, a lot of your questions would be answered. Any additional questions you may have after reading it can be addressed on the Questions and Information board on the forum. In addition, read instructions on the site before using a page you're not familiar with. It may sound stupid that I have to make this a rule, but here are some examples of how members frequently misuse the site.

  • On the Update Information form, it asks members who are filling it out to leave a chat client completely blank if they don't have it. Even to this day, we still get people putting "none", "n/a", and other things. The site compiles a list of screenames for each chat client, and it ignores blank entries. If you put "n/a", you will show up on that list, with your screename being listed as "n/a". Since that's not your screename, you shouldn't put that.
  • When promoting members, you need to have a familiarity with the standards of each rank. We shouldn't have people promoting MWO5's to 2nd Lieutenant just for being active, for example. If you don't know whether a member deserves a promotion, ask for a second opinion.
  • When posting news, be sure it's something that the entire clan needs to know about. The news is for announcements, not for commentary or suggestions.

12. Do not indiscriminately attack or provoke other clans. In the rare cases where we need to fight with another clan to preserve our own, we will set them as "Hostile" or "AT WAR!" on the diplomacy page. Both of these categories are coded red. You are only allowed to flood/load/harass clans that are "Hostile" or "AT WAR!" on the diplomacy page.

  • Do not harass or BM clans that are not coded red on our diplomacy page. While we will defend ourselves if we need to, we are not a warring clan. No matter how much you dislike another clan, keep it to yourself. If you cause hostilities with a clan that was previously neutral, you will be expelled.
  • Flooding or loading any clan not coded red on our diplomacy page is strictly prohibited. Members of the Assault Team are to take orders only from their commander. Assaulting another clan without orders will result in expulsion.

13. Don't ever ask for a medal or a promotion. If a General or Officer feels that you deserve such a commendation, it will be awarded without you having to ask for it.

I hate pointless rules with a passion. I've tried my best to come up with rules that benefit the community as a whole and encourage harmony amongst our members. If you have a problem with any rule outlined here, feel free to discuss it with me.

With that said, I'd like to thank each and every member for their cooperation. I hope your experience in MoH is a good one, and that you benefit from both these rules and our clan.
